DIY Wood Work Bench
Description
Is it special?
No.
Is it perfect?
No.
Where this project becomes valuable to me, is that it is a curated space for me to work on my various projects. My previous table was a plank of wood held up by 2 stools, which was neither stable nor efficient. I wanted to build a workspace that works for me, and that is what I did! This work bench features lower and upper storage, an LED strip light to illuminate my workspace, Dedicated power bar mount, a vice, and much more. It was also critical to me that I am able to sit down at this table, and therefore making the bottom shelf smaller was essential for comfort, as it gives my legs space under the table top.
Overall, I designed this work bench to be a useful, curated space that is also comfortable to spend time at. It was also CHEAP, a very important consideration for a student.
What would I do differently? My biggest oversight on this project was using 2x3 studs that span the full 8ft width, which causes the work bench and shelves to sag a bit. If I were to build it again, I would use 2x4 or even 2x6 studs for that span.
